2005 Indians Barbecue the Rangers

A lot of hitting to be had in Arlington, Texas, as the Indians took two of three from the Rangers.

Game One: CLE 19, TEX 14

The Indians pound out 19 runs on 24 hits off Texas relievers, a group dubbed "Les Miserables" as the season progresses. Cleveland scorches Texas for 12 runs in the eighth inning on 12 hits, as Texas went through its entire bullpen. The Rangers tried to come back in the ninth, scoring five times in an interminably long game.

For Cleveland, Sizemore, Gerut and Belliard drove in three, while Nelson Cruz scored six RBIs including a grand slam for Texas. Derek Holland of Texas now has an ERA over 13 on the season.
Adrian Beltre

Game Two: TEX 10, Cle 6

Another hitting party, as Texas scores eight runs off Cleveland's Scott Elarton in the first three innings and never looks back. Adrian Beltre goes three for five and hits a 451 foot homer (his second), as Matt Harrison has an "eh" outing but still manages to win his first game.

Game Three: CLE 4, TEX 2

Finally, a nice pitcher's duel between Alexi Ogando and Jake Westbrook, leading to a 2-2 tie going into the eighth. But the Rangers' holey bullpen again is shown up, as Mike Adams gives up a two run double to Casey Blake for the game winner. Bob Wickman gets the win for Cleveland with 1.2 innings of hitless relief.
