Randy Johnson was shelled in the series finale. The Big Unit coughed up 10 runs and exited during the 4th inning. San Diego tallied 14 runs in a complete rout of the D-Backs in the first game of the series. Venable and Adrian Gonzalez drove in 3 runs a piece to lead the Padre offense. Arizona took the second game of the series as veteran third sacker Matt Williams hit a homerun and drove in 4 runs. Luis Gonzalez added another 3 runs batted in. Batista earned his first win of the year. D-Backs 8....Padres 4.

Latos pitched 7 strong innings to earn his first victory of the year. Adrian Gonzalez connected for his third consecutive game with a homerun. Padres take the series. Heath Bell pitched the 9th inning and struck out 2 batters for his second save. Padres 4....D-Backs 3.
