Arizona wins 2 over Cincinnati

August 22:  Arizona 3 Cincinnati 2

Even before all the fans had settled in their seats, Matt Williams had hit a 3 run homer. Curt Schilling gave up a first inning run on single by Jay Bruce and then settled in not allowing a run and only 4 hits in next 6 innings. Although the bullpen gave up a run on a wild pitch in the 8th, Byung-Hyn Kim came on in the 9th to record the save although he gave up 2 singles.




August 23:  Arizona 11 Cincinnati 2

By the end of the 4th inning it was 9-0 and Randy Johnson was pitching for the D-backs. Womack had 3 hits, Grace hit a single and 3 run homer as Arizona pounded out 17 hits, 14 of these were singles. 6 D-back players had 2 or more hits.











August 24: Cincinnati 6 Arizona 2

Cincinnati bats awaken when not having to face a Schilling or Johnson caliber pitcher and hit 3 homeruns in support of Johnny Cueto. Brandon Phillips started with 2 run homer in the first inning and Scott Rolan hit solo homer in the 2nd.  When Drew Stubbs hit his solo homer in the 5th, the Arizona crowd knew it was not their night.  Last 2 Reds runs came on sac fly by Phillips and on a passed ball.  Luis Gonzalez hit a 3 run homer in the 6th but the Reds bull pen came on to shut the door in the last 3 innings. Chapman pitched the 9th getting the save, striking out 2 and walking 1.
