August 29: Cardinals 2 Reds 0


Jason Marquis pitched 7 scoreless innings, limiting the Reds to 2 hits while striking out 9. Cardinal bats were not much better, not getting a hit until the 5th inning when Ray Lankford tripled and scored on Marlor Anderson's single. Scott Rolen hit solo homer in bottom of 7th.  Steve Kline pitched a scoreless 9th to earn the save.







August 30:  Cardinals 7 Reds 5

Cardinals over came the Reds first inning 3-0 lead with 6 unanswered runs to defeat the Cardinals 7-5. Jay Bruce hit 3 run homer in the first inning but Matt Latos could not hold the lead for long. Cardinals scored 2 runs in 2nd on Matheny's rbi single and a wild pitch and took the lead in the 4th as Cardinal pitcher Woody
Williams plated 2 with a 2 out single. Albert Pujol homered in the 5th and Jim Edmond's sac fly in the 6th added the Cardinals 6th run.  Reds tried to come back getting 2 in the 7th as Reds got 4 singles with Zack Cozart and Brandon Phillips knocking in the runs. Pujol's rbi double in the 8th added insurance and Jason Isringhausen pitched the 9th for the save. Edgar Renteria had 3 hits for the Cardinals.

August 31: Cardinals 5 Reds 3

Jeff Suppan pitched into the 8th inning giving up 3 runs and scattering 7 hits. He was helped immensely with 3 run first inning out burst when with 2 outs, Jim Edmonds tripled in a run and Scott Rolen followed with a 2 run homer, his first in KOD20. Edgar Renteria continued his hot hitting collecting 3 singles including rbi hits in the 2nd and 4th innings. Reds finally got to tiring Suppan in the 8th as Heisey doubled in the Reds first run and after loading the bases, Frazier's ground out scored the 2nd. Julian Tavaras stamped out that 8th inning rally and followed with 1-2-3 9th for the save.
