Phils take 2 from the Reds

Phillies versus Reds

August 25: Reds 3 Phillies 1

Mat Latos pitched the Reds to a win holding the Phils to 1 run and 1 hit in 7 innings of work. Todd Frazier's double in the 8th scored Ryan Ludwick who also had doubled with the lead run and Latos drove in insurance run with sac fly. Aroldi Chapman earned his 4th save of the year. Phils lone hit was Pence's rbi double in the 6th inning.




August 26:  Phils 8 Reds 6

In a strange game, the Phils out slugged the Reds, winning 8 -6 with all runs being scored in first 3 innings. Homer Bailey lasted only 2 innings for the Reds giving up 8 runs on 8 hits. Carlos Ruiz hit 3 run homer, Ryan Howard had 2 singles and 3 rbis and Raul Ibanez hit 2 run double. Unfortunately for the Phils, Roy Halladay had miserable day and pitched only 4 innings allowing 6 runs and 11 hits. Todd Frazier hit 3 run homer, Ryan Ludwick hit a solo homer and Brandon Phillips singled in 2. After the 4th inning both bullpens threw goose eggs scattering a combined 7 hits. Ryan Madison earned his 6th save of the year.

August 27:  Phils 11 Reds 5

Phils bats were on fire again pounding out 17 hits and producing 11 runs. The game started with the 2nd batter, Placido Polanco hitting a 2 run homer and this was followed by Hunter Pence also homering. The Phils put the game away in the 6th scoring 5 runs a Shane Victorino tripled in 2. Victorino finished with 4 hits (3 singles and triple) , Hunter Pence had single, double, homer, walk and 3 rbis and Polanco also with 3 hits and 3 rbis. Cliff Lee tired quickly in the 7th when the Phils scored 5 runs with Todd Frazier smacking a home run.Chris Heisey returned to action from an injury getting 2 hits and 2 rbis.
